This stained glass window, with its geometric double-boundary motif, has been diverted from its usual use to create a cross by exploiting the pixellation effect offered by this square grid. In addition, the colours of Christian symbolism are used in the colouring of the motif to emphasise it and increase its significance as an ornament for a funeral chapel.
  • White = the Father (divine wisdom, faith, chastity) in cathedral glass mounted on the textured side of the cross and reversed for the small squares to highlight the cross.
  • Blue = the Son
  • Red = the Holy Spirit, Love, Charity
  • Green = hope
These windows were widely used in Haussmann's buildings, with geometric patterns that could be repeated many times. They can be used to add colour to window frames and bow windows. Their geometric design emphasises the perspective of a room and frames the surrounding landscape.
